ACLS Prep Class
Is this the right class for me?

 Audience:

ACLS is designed for Healthcare Professionals who work in emergency response, emergency medicine, Intensive Care, and other Critical Care settings. Anyone who is required to take an ACLS course or intends to work in a setting that requires an ACLS certification is welcome to attend the ACLS Prep Class. Target audience who will benefit the most from this course are as follows:

·         Students taking ACLS for the first time

·         Nursing Students

·         Healthcare providers wanting to gain a better understanding of ACLS fundamentals

·         Experienced healthcare providers who have been out of a critical care setting for an extended period

·         Healthcare providers who struggle with heart rhythm interpretation

Course Content:

Through didactic instruction and minor hands-on practice, this course will cover two of the biggest key concepts of ACLS training; heart rhythms and ACLS medications.  This includes the following topics:

·         Basic Cardiovascular Anatomy and Physiology

·         ECG Measurement

·         Heart Rhythm Interpretation

·         Arrhythmia Identification

·         Electrical Treatment for Arrhythmias

·         Pharmacology for ACLS Medications

Course Length:  

This course is scheduled to last up to four hours. Class times may vary slightly depending on the number of students and class discussion time, but students should prepare to stay for the entire four hours.

ACLS Provider - INITIAL

 Audience:

For first time students and students with expired certification

The American Heart Association ACLS provider course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies.

Course Content:

Through didactic instruction and active participation in simulated cases, the students will enhance their skills and clinical decision making abilities for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiopulmonary arrest, acute arrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes.  Students are taught to use the following important concepts:

·         Basic Life Support (BLS) Survey

·         High-Quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

·         ACLS survey

·         ACLS algorithms

·         Effective resuscitation team dynamics

Audience:

The American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED provider course is designed for non-Healthcare professionals such as fitness trainers, lifeguards, coaches, school teachers, etc., who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory agency requirements.

Course Content:

Participants will learn how to perform CPR and use an AED.  Key components of the course will train participants to: 

·         Deliver effective CPR for adult, child, and infant victims

·         Provide early use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)

·         Perform techniques for relief of adult, child, and infant choking victims
