Participants will receive information about heart disease, the function of the heart and lungs, and prudent heart living. The risk factors, signals, and actions for survival related to heart attacks and strokes will be discussed. Participants will receive instruction and manikin practice in one-rescuer CPR and management of choking victims. American Heart Association completion cards valid for two years will be issued after completion of this course.

This is a recently developed American Heart Association program. It instructs participants in the skills necessary to perform adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the integrated use of the automated external defibrillator (AED). Participants engage in mannequin practice of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of AED's. This course, or a similar approved course, is required for facilities that plan to have an automated external defibrillator at their facility. Participants must perform CPR, complete four AED scenarios, and score 85% or higher on the written exam to successfully complete this course. American Heart Association course completion cards valid for two years will be issued after successful completion of this course.

Participants receive information regarding standard first aid treatment. Patient assessment and standard first aid treatment for medical emergencies; burns; muscle, bone and joint injuries; heat and cold related emergencies; and head, chest, and abdominal trauma will be taught. Participants will practice patient assessment, bleeding control, bandaging, and splinting on fellow participants. Adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and relief of foreign body airway obstructions (the Heimlich maneuver) can also be added to this course. Students must complete a patient assessment, perform bleeding control, splinting, bandaging, and CPR (if required), and score an 84% or higher on the written exam to successfully complete this course. National Safety Council course completion cards that are valid for two years will be issued upon successful completion of this course. This course can be tailored to meet the needs of the participants. Course length can vary from four to sixteen hours. This course is conducted using the latest guidelines set by the National Safety Council First Aid Institute.

The HeartSaver First aid, AED, CPR, Training System is a joint venture between the National Safety Council and the American Heart Association. This course covers basic first aid training, the use of automated external defibrillators (AED's) and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). To successfully complete this course, participants will perform adult CPR, use the AED in four scenarios, perform a patient assessment, perform bleeding control, splinting, bandaging, and score 85% or better on two written exams. Course completion cards valid for two years will be issued after successful completion of this course. This course is conducted using the latest guidelines set forth by the National Safety Council and the American Heart Association.

Our first responder program is an 80 hour course that prepares participants to act as first responders. Participants receive information on patient assessment skills, recognition of emergencies, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and treatment and stabilization of critically ill or injured patients. The 80 hour course involves classroom lecture and skill lab practice. To successfully complete this course, participants will be required to attend all 80 hours of the course, complete a written exam with an 84% or better each day of class, perform CPR and relief of foreign body airway obstructions (choking) on adults, children and infants, perform bandaging and splinting, and complete a patient exam. After successfully completing this course, participants are eligible to take the National Registry exam for First Responders. This course is conducted using the latest guidelines set forth by the Department of Transportation.

Participants receive the information necessary to know how to handle and properly dispose of bloodborne pathogens. Requirements and forms for reporting exposure to bloodborne pathogens will be reviewed. This course is conducted using the National Safety Council curriculum which meets current OSHA standards.

This course is dedicated to providing the participants with information related to pediatric health and injury prevention. Participants will receive instruction and manikin practice in one-rescuer CPR for infants and children. American Heart Association course participation cards that are valid for two years will be issued to all students who attend this course.

This course is designed for individuals ages 11-13. It trains young people in the principles of babysitting. Participants are instructed on how to accept babysitting jobs, how to know if their personal safety is at risk, how to care for those they are responsible for, and basic first aid. For safety reasons, the National Safe Sitter Institute prohibits training agencies from releasing the names of past or present students to individuals seeking a child care provider. Training agencies are also prohibited from giving out the names of individuals seeking childcare providers to the participants. To successfully complete this course, participants will perform rescue breathing for infants and children and complete a written exam. After completing this course, participants will receive a completion card and certificate in an awards ceremony the last day of class. Parents and family are invited to attend the award ceremony. This course is conducted using the guidelines set forth by the National Safe Sitter Institute.

After successful completion of the course, students will receive an American Heart Association course completion card valid for two years. ACLS is aimed at providing participants the opportunity to acquire and/or improve the skills and knowledge that is required to manage the first ten minutes of a cardiac arrest or a near arrest. Information on major cardiac events will be covered during the first day of the course. This will include information on the assessment and treatment of respiratory arrest, pulseless ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia, pulseless electrical activity (PEA), asystole, acute myocardial infarction, bradycardia, stable tachycardia, and unstable tachycardia. Participants will have ample opportunity the first day to work with qualified instructors to practice the skills necessary to treat these various cardiac events. The second day of the course consists of the written exam and skill station check off's. After successful completion of the course requirements, students will receive an American Heart Association course completion card valid for two years. This course is conducted using the latest guidelines set by the American Heart Association.

Our PALS course covers the assessment and treatment of pediatric patients suffering from airway problems, trauma, or cardiac events. Emergent care of the newborn is also covered. After the classroom portion of the first day, participants will be given ample practice time with qualified instructors at each of the skill stations. The written exam and skill station check-off's will be conducted the second day of the course. After successful completion the course, participants will receive an American Heart Association course completion card valid for two years. This course is designed to teach individuals how to deal with and treat trauma emergencies prior to reaching the hospital. Kinematics of trauma and patient assessment are discussed. Skill stations include airway management, immobilization, and rapid extrication. After successfully completing this course, participants will receive a course completion card from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians that is valid for three years. This course is conducted using the latest guidelines from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.

The instructor course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to instruct students in any Basic Life Support (BLS) Course. The first day of this three day course provides the instructor candidate with the Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) educational philosophy, policies, and procedures of the American Heart Association (AHA). The candidates will be given information on teaching methods and on the educational aids available for teaching provider courses. During the second day, participants will have the opportunity to present a mini-lecture and skills demonstration to help develop effective presentation abilities. While different methods of teaching will be presented, students will be encouraged to utilize and develop a teaching style that fits their own personality while still presenting the required information. On the final day of the course, instructor candidates will present a course to a group of provider students. This class will be monitored by an instructor trainer or regional faculty.
The AHA requires all instructors who teach and issue AHA completion and participation cards be affiliated with a Community Training Center (CTC). During the course, all participants will be given the opportunity to affiliate with a CTC.
An American Heart Association instructor card, valid for two years, will be issued to each participant who successfully completes all the course requirements. To maintain instructor status, instructors must teach a minimum of 2 courses each year and be in good standing with their CTC. A new instructor card will be issued by the CTC every two years if the instructor has met all the requirements necessary to maintain instructor status.

The HeartSaver AED instructor course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to instruct students in the HeartSaver AED course. Participants learn the Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) educational philosophy, policies and procedures of the American Heart Association (AHA) regarding the instruction of the HeartSaver AED course. Participants will receive a certificate showing their successful completion of their instructor training. This course is conducted using the latest guidelines from the American Heart Association.

This course is designed to train individuals how to conduct a Standard First Aid Course. The principals of adult learning and teaching strategies are emphasized. The guidelines of the National Safety Council for conducting a Standard First Aid course are also presented to the participants. Individuals who successfully complete this course and meet all other National Safety Council requirements are eligible to conduct National Safety Council Standard First Aid courses. This course is conducted using the latest guidelines set by the National Safety Council First Aid Institute.
